Elisheva Gavra (b. 1992) is an artist, photographer and writer based in New York. Her work has been exhibited at the Jewish Museum in New York, The Broad Art Center in Los Angeles, and elsewhere. She is a recent MFA graduate in photography from Columbia University.
Her work consists of making photography, writing, installation and performance while asking about the task of representation when it comes to an absent referent, and about the affective capacity of relationality in constituting what we agree on as reality. In that pursuit, emotions are employed as modes to write history, manipulated and used objects as forms of experience, and real-life power-plays as a fundamental condition of producing photography.
